I've got ripplin' waters to wake me(Thanks Ibby). So many of the songs I love to sing are about the mountains and streams and vistas of this wonderful place I get to call home. I've written a few of my own but I love to sing songs by artists that 'get it'! There are way too many to recall but I will try and name some of my favorites and if you get the chance to tap into their music, I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.

Everyone knows John Denver's songs(of course) and I love 'em too but here's some others I like that you can probably Google or you tube to hear some other great rocky mountain tunes.

Jim Salestrom; Jimmy Ibbotson; Chuck Pyle; Michael Murphey; John Daily; Bob Turner...there are soooo many(help me out here Sean and Dicky Stew and Rob) and of course our own such as Peggy Mann; Arnie Green; Jon Cook; Larry Bishop; Bart 'The Artist'; Oly and Brad and Lynnea.

I know I've left out a whole bunch, so maybe some of you can leave a comment as to some of your favorite Colorado musicians and song writers to refresh my memory and give some insight to my blob readers as to who to look for..

OK, here's another...Rick Roberts' "Hey, Colorado", Merle Haggard's Colorado etc. etc. etc....

post script... so I go to bed, thinking I've got a good idea for a blog about Colorado music and then realize that I left out the best one of all...."Good Feelin' To Know" by Richie Furay and Poco...so I had to get out of bed and edit my blob or I would never go to sleep..................

If you have ripplin waters that wake you, it could be your prostate. Seriously, nice photo. I said yes to a marriage proposal at what I believe was this very sight. Ahhh...

Well, those mentioned are all great (Ray-Natl Lampoon, LOL love it!). I've come up with some others and some Colorado bands that "get it!" (or got it)
Emmylou-Boulder to Birmingham
Judy Collins-Someday Soon & Colorado Song (and many other song mentions)
Poco-Grand Junction! (and others)
Dave Edmunds-Get Out of Denver (I know it's a Bob Seger tune, but Dave's version is definitive..and hard to find).
John Stewart-East of Denver, Survivors and many others!
Chuck Pyle-His whole Higher Ground CD is about Colorado, Here Comes the Water is a must!
Rufus Krisp-Loveland Pass (bluegrass from the 70s)
Michael Stanley-Boulder Rain
Danny Holien-Colorado (on the rare Colorado label, Tumbleweed)
Pure Prairie League-Boulder Skies
Zephyr (!)-Goin' Back to Colorado (for the festival crowd, w/ the great Tommy Bolin and Candy and David Givens!)
and don't forget Mitch Miller and their great Colorado song-"If I had a wagon I would go to Colorado..." LOL
Others on my list include...
Firefall, Sugarloaf, Woody & the Too High Band, Timberline, Tim O'Brien and all his band configurations, Dan McCorrison, Gretchen Peters, Flash Cadillac, CW McCall and the first real Colorado band I ever saw live, Boulder's own, The Astronauts!
That's enough for now....great thread, Corm

Great memories guys! How about Townes Van Zandt singing about "Colorado Girl" or John Prine singing about the Hotel Boulderado in "Barbara Lewis." Chuck Pyle sang about the pre Lodo "Larimer Street" (and remember his band with John Cable called Colours?...the Ballad of Leon McDuff?) I remember seeing Dan McCorison at the Gables with Dusty Drapes and the Dusters. How about Steve Earle singing about Colorado in "Fort Worth Blues."
